After ending 2018 on a sour note, the P-Bruins rebounded with four out of six points over the weekend to pull back to .500.
Friday, January 4 vs. Lehigh Valley, 4-2 Win:
The P-Bruins jumped to a 3-0 lead in the first, with all three goals coming with under three minutes to go in the period. Trent Frederic scored his seventh of the year to make it 1-0 before Gemel Smith scored two goals in 21 seconds to expand Providence’s lead heading into the second.
The Phantoms scored twice in the middle frame to pull within one, but a goal from Joona Koppanen early in the third put a seal on the victory. Zane McIntyre made 20 saves on 22 shots in the win.
Saturday, January 5 vs. Springfield, 5-3 Loss:
The P-Bruins got off to a good start in Springfield, going up 1-0 just 2:03 into the game off Zach Senyshyn’s eleventh goal of the year. However, the Thunderbirds scored five straight goals and held off a third period comeback to earn the win.
Jordan Szwarz and Smith scored the other goals for Providence, while Dan Vladar made 34 saves on 39 shots in the defeat.
Sunday, January 6 vs. Hartford, 5-1 Win:
Providence defeated the Wolf Pack on Sunday to close out the three-in-three weekend on a high note. The Baby B’s took a 2-0 lead in the first period and scored three times in the final period to make it 5-0. It sure looked like McIntyre was on his way to a shutout before Cole Schneider of Hartford scored with 2:21 remaining.
Also, Wiley Sherman dropped the gloves with Matt Beleskey after the latter dropped Connor Clifton with an elbow. Check out the bout below.

Emil Johansson, Peter Cehlarik (2), Smith, and Szwarz scored the goals for Providence. McIntyre made 15 saves on 16 shots to pick up his fourth win in his last six games.
Looking Ahead:
Providence will host the Wolf Pack again on Friday before splitting a home-and-home series with Springfield on Saturday and Sunday. The P-Bruins play six of their next eight games at home, where they are 9-3-2 on the season.

Providence currently sits in seventh place in the Atlantic Division with a 16-16-5 record and 37 points. The P-Bruins are one point behind the sixth-placed Wolf Pack and five points ahead of the eighth-placed Hershey Bears.
