Samuel Asselin is jumping up to the AHL

An early promotion for the 21-year-old kid.

While the NHL club was licking their wounds, the Providence Bruins made a roster move today: they called up forward Samuel Asselin from the Atlanta Gladiators of the ECHL.

Asselin, you’ll remember, was signed by the Bruins over the summer. The undrafted Asselin had aged out of the QMJHL and landed in the Boston organization.

He impressed at times during training camp, particularly during the Rookie Tournament. With a glut of forwards in Providence, Asselin found himself in Atlanta to begin the ECHL season.

What has he done there? Scored a casual 7 goals and 7 assists in 9 games. NOT BAD. He’s also recorded 12 penalty minutes, which is impressive in just 9 games.

The Providence Bruins are back in action at home against Hartford on Friday. Hopefully Asselin is in the mix and continues his impressive start in the Bruins organization.
