Game notes

  • Mercifully, the Bruins are almost done with the country’s later time zones. I am far too old to be staying up for these 10, 10:30 games. IT IS A WORK NIGHT, GARY.
  • Vegas has lost four of five, including a 3-0 shutout last time out against the Colorado Avalanche. Their last win came on Saturday, a 5-1 win over Nashville.
  • The Bruins, meanwhile, are on fire, with 6-game winning streak and an 11-game point streak on the line tonight. That 8-0-3 mark in their last 11 is looking pretty good right now, folks.
  • Vegas has been leaning heavily on Marc-Andre Fleury again this year, with the veteran netting 51 appearances in Vegas’ 61 games. Yikes. Malcolm Subban has started the Knights’ last two games too, meaning Fleury was looking at 51 appearances in 59 games before this brief break. It’ll be interesting to see if the Knights go back to Fleury tonight.
  • The Bruins lost 3-1 in their first game in Vegas last season, though they beat the Knights on home ice a few weeks later.
  • Old buddy Reilly Smith has slowed down a bit this season, netting 9 goals in 54 games.
  • After netting just one assist in the month’s first five games, Jake DeBrusk is heating up in February. He’s got 9 points in his last four games, including a three-point night last time out against San Jose.

See ya tonight!
