Bruins lines vs. Washington: An afternoon off for Heinen

Bruce Cassidy confirmed that he’d be making some lineup changes after the Bruins practiced on Saturday, and they are changes that many would expect.

First, Danton Heinen, whose missed open net on Thursday night kind of summed up his season, will be a healthy scratch.

Next, Matt Grzelcyk will rotate back in, with John Moore a healthy scratch.

Finally, Noel Acciari will slide into Heinen’s spot on the roster, albeit in a slightly different spot.

We’ll have:

Brad Marchand - Patrice Bergeron - David Pastrnak

Peter Cehlarik - David Krejci - Jake DeBrusk

Joakim Nordstrom - Trent Frederic - David Backes

Sean Kuraly - Noel Acciari - Chris Wagner

Zdeno Chara - Charlie McAvoy

Torey Krug - Brandon Carlo

Matt Grzelcyk - Kevan Miller

Tuukka Rask

Truthfully, this has been a long time coming for Heinen, who hasn’t managed to string good games together very often this season. The missed open net is a glaring example, but is probably just a small part of Cassidy’s decision.

Perhaps a game in the press box will allow Heinen to push the reset button and get him back to the effective player he was last season.

Don’t be surprised if he’s not the only one getting healthy scratched as a message, however: his fellow youngster, Jake DeBrusk, could end up being next in line.

See ya on NBC!
