This game had “let down” written all over it, and boy, did it deliver.
It wasn’t exciting, but the Bruins managed to beat the Devils by a score of 1-0, running their point streak to 16 games.
Brad Marchand scored the lone goal on the power play early in the first period.

And uh...that was it! After an exciting game against Tampa, this had to be expected against a young/inexperienced New Jersey team that played the night before.
Game notes
- The win extended Tuukka Rask’s personal point streak to 17 games. NOT BAD. Rask hasn’t lost a game in regulation since 2018. It sounds better when you put it that way.
- While the Bruins weren’t exactly peppering him with shots all night, Mackenzie Blackwood played pretty well for the Devils. He made a few key stops to keep his team in it, including one on a Marchand penalty shot in the first period.
- Peter Cehlarik got back on the ice tonight and didn’t really endear himself to the coaching staff. He failed to cover for Matt Grzelcyk on a pinch that led to a 2-on-1, then took a tripping penalty in the offensive zone. He only skated 8:54 on the night, the lowest number on either team. He didn’t skate a single shift in the third period.
- This game wasn’t very fun to watch. I don’t really have much to add to that thought, but yeah.
The B’s are back at it on Tuesday night when the Carolina Hurricanes come to town.
