Shortly after the good news (the Zdeno Chara contract extension) came the bad news: the Bruins announced this morning that Sean Kuraly will be out for at least four weeks with a broken right hand.
Kuraly injured the hand toward the end of Thursday’s win over New Jersey, taking a puck off the glove.
Per the team, Kuraly already underwent surgery on the hand, and the “expected recovery time is approximately four weeks.”
Not great news for the Bruins, as Kuraly is a solid player who provides the kind of energy and heavy shifts that are important in the playoffs.
Four weeks from today puts us at April 20th; that would be two weeks after the regular season ends, meaning Kuraly’s playoff prospects are in doubt.
In response to the injury news, the B’s recalled Karson Kuhlman from Providence on an emergency basis.
