Bruins vs. Red Wings 3/31/19 PREVIEW

Alright, let’s try this again.

NHL: Detroit Red Wings at Boston Bruins Bob DeChiara-USA TODAY Sports

Just The Facts:

The Time: 7:30pm EST

The Place: Little Caesar’s Arena, Detroit, Michigan

The Stakes: Well...both teams definitely know what they’re doing come April 7th, so the actual real stakes here are pretty low. That being said, home ice for the playoffs would be nice, wouldn’t it? A win would get Boston slightly closer to that.

Place to Watch: SportsNet 360, NBCSN

Place to Listen: 98.5 The Sports Hub, WXYT-fm 97.1

Opposing SBNation Blog: Winging it in Motown

Know Your Enemy:

  • Your leading point and goal getter for the Red Wings is Dylan Larkin, with 31 goals and 68 points in 72 games.
  • Thomas Vanek is on this team, so be unreasonably terrified of an ordovician period arthropod with 36 points. He is tied for second highest Power play goal-getter with 4, though. Better watch out for him.
  • Not including the eternally dead Henrik Zetterberg, the Red Wings have 7 players on the injury list. Even in a season they decided to take off, they’ve been going through some hard times

Game Preview:

Well...Yesterday kinda sucked.

Thankfully, they’re playing a game in a back-to-back against a team that’s just way, way, way worse than the Panthers and happens to exist in a major hockey market. A team that is battered, bruised, unhappy, and just wants to go home and play Apex: Legends until the sadness goes away/the draft starts.

If nothing else, the B’s should try their hardest to not put up as flat a performance in front of the Red Wings as their historical last week of the season has proven to be...less than ideal. The points will certainly help when they face Columbus and Minnesota during the week, who are rabidly attempting to make the playoffs even as the season draws to a close.

Let’s get loud, and hope for a much more emphatic game today!
