Marcus Johansson suffered a lung contusion last night

That’s...that’s quite an injury.

The good news: it’s not a head injury!

The bad news: it’s still quite the injury.

The Bruins announced this evening that Marcus Johansson suffered a lung contusion on that hit from Micheal Ferland last night.

Per the team, Johansson was taken to the hospital to be checked out, kept overnight for evaluation and discharged today.

He’ll be reevaluated in a week, meaning he’s at least that long away from a return to action, probably longer.

On the positive side, it isn’t a head injury (the head snap was troubling) and doesn’t appear to be something long-term. The Bruins will have a roster decision to make in the meantime, as David Pastrnak isn’t quite ready yet.

They could slide Karson Kuhlman into the lineup, or elect to call someone else up from Providence.

We’ll see!
