Charlie Coyle playoff MVP for Bruins

The Boston Bruins are currently tied at one game a piece with the Columbus Blue Jackets, but they would likely be somewhere on a beach right now if it wasn't for Charlie Coyle. The 27-year-old who was born just nearly an hour outside the city of Boston, has proven to be a very valuable player for the Bruins in this year's playoffs.

Coyle has spent the majority of these playoffs centering the third line. But, that hasn't prevented him from being one of the most valuable players on this team. In the nine games played so far, he has produced five goals and two assists. While also scoring the game-winning goal in overtime in game one of this series against the Blue Jackets.

The Massachusetts-native currently leads the team in goals, and is tied for second in points on the team with David Pastrnak. With all that said, no one could have expected that Coyle would be leading the team in goals during the playoffs when they acquired him back on Feb. 20 from the Minnesota Wild.

Speaking of Pastrnak, Bruce Cassidy has moved him down to the third line for game three in hopes that playing with Coyle will help jump-start the struggling winger. Cassidy also hopes that line will find the same success that was found in game one of this series when they scored the overtime winner.

The Bruins have to be extremely happy about Coyle's performance during the playoffs. Coyle has never scored 20 goals in a single season before. However, Coyle has another year of control following this season with a cap hit of $3.2 million. So while he has never scored 20 goals in a single season, he could become a household name with Bruins fans if he continues to be a playoff hero for this team.
