Today Boston University alumna Kaleigh Fratkin became the first player to sign on with the NWHL for its fifth season. Fratkin has played in every season of the NWHL, originally for the Connecticut Whale, then the New York Riveters before returning to Boston for the first time since her CWHL days. No other player has played for three or more different teams. She will be earning a salary of $11,000 and according to a new deal between the players association and the league she will still get 15% of revenue from apparel with her name in addition to a portion of the 50% of all sponsorship money the league generates that goes to the players.

Also in the press release of Fratkin’s signing were quotes from last years head coach Paul Mara, which indicates him returning behind the bench. The Pride showed great improvement under his leadership.
