Earlier in the week, a russian prospect watching account on twitter sent this little chestnut into the aether:
Sounds like Pavel Shen is close to reaching an agreement with his KHL team on terminating his current contract, expected to sign with #NHLBruins after that.
— Russian Prospects (@RUSProspects) July 19, 2019
While interesting and this account does keep pretty good accuracy on stuff like this, it wasnt really worth much as news except for being a spicy rumor.
And then Pavel decided to make that dream a reality, according to Capfriendly:
Boston #Bruins have signed 2018 7th RD pick (212 overall) Pavel Shen to a 3 year Entry Level contract starting in 2019-20

$809,167 cap hit / $925,000 AAV
Shen's MHL contract with Tolpar UFA was terminated earlier this week allowing him to sign in Bostonhttps://t.co/FHnz7LO55c pic.twitter.com/w3rOuHUClo
Shen was a 2018 7th rounder who blossomed as a member of the Russian World junior squad and U18; being their leading goalscorer at the WJC’s, but had a lot of trouble finding ice-time in the KHL/VHL/MHL, where he was bouncing back and forth constantly and in general seemed to be both good enough, too good, or not good at all for the Salavat Yulaev Ufa system, and as a result his ice-time was...all over the place. It seems like he was able to successfully weasel his way out of the notoriously difficult contract structure of Russian hockey in order to sign here.
Goes without saying, but he’ll probably be attending development camp and, if all goes well, play for the P-Bruins this year. Or he could astound everybody and end up on the NHL roster. Crazier things have happened, y’know.
Regardless, let’s all welcome Pavel Shen to the Boston Bruins!
