When coaches tell players that they need to be hungrier on the puck, I’m not sure that this is what they have in mind.

Why yes, that IS Jack Studnicka scoring a goal with his face. Paul Carey’s shot ramped up off of a stick in front, and the puck hit Studnicka square in the face.
In a fortuitous bit of luck, the puck then went into the net, and Studnicka went directly into the locker room.
In the words of Jack Edwards, “they don’t ask how, they just ask how many!”
That was the lone goal scored in the first period, as the Bruins and Devils weren’t exactly putting on an offensive showcase.
