Morning Skate: Into the offseason

The first full week of “next season” stuff.

Monday is here, and hopefully you had a good weekend. Another work week is upon us.

For NHL teams, this work week marks what could be considered the first full “back to work” week of preparations for next season.

The NHL Draft will kick off tomorrow night, with the rest of the rounds coming on Wednesday.

After that, free agency opens on Friday at noon Eastern, so...plenty of “let’s see who does what” stuff coming up.

In Bruins Land, Ekman-Larsson rumors continue to be out there, as do rumors of Edmonton being interested in Jake DeBrusk and Tuukka Rask potentially being on the trade block.

Rask, if you remember, has to provide the Bruins with a list of 15 teams to which he’d accept a trade.

It seems like if Rask didn’t want to be moved, he could just list teams that have no real need for a #1 goalie (there are plenty) or teams that couldn’t really afford him. Basically, he can make things difficult if he wants to.

Of course, he may be ready to move on as well. Who knows? Only time will tell.

What else is on tap for today?

Today’s highlight

This is the biggest hit I’ve ever seen live. Also, remember when the NHL played on Versus? Good times.

Today’s discussion topic

There are a ton of goalies who look to be hitting free agency this week. Where do you think they’ll end up?
