Morning Skate: Hello Hannu

It is Wednesday, my dudes.

When I was younger, I was convinced Hannu Toivnen was the Next Guy in net for the Bruins. He had a decent rookie season, going 9-5-4 with a .914 save percentage and a 2.63 GAA on a terrible, terrible Bruins team.

However, he suffered an ankle injury shortly thereafter, and was never the same.

Fast forward to today: that same Hannu Toivonen has been named the goalies coach for North Yarmouth Academy in Maine!

NYA plays in the New England Prep School Ice Hockey Association. Jon Gillies, the former standout goalie at Providence College who is now in the AHL, went to NYA.

Yarmouth is a little north of Portland, which is a great city.

Anyways, this has been Maine Talk.

Good luck to Toivonen in his new role!

Today’s highlight

Hannu! Man, that team was bad.

Today’s discussion topic

Toivonen was briefly a replacement for Andrew Raycroft, who was eventually traded to Toronto for Tuukka Rask.

There’s no real question here, but instead let’s just remember that the Leafs traded Tuukka Rask for Andrew Raycroft.

Nice.
