First things first: if you’re in the United States and have yet to cast your vote, get out there and do so today, as long as you feel you’re able to do so safely.
It’s important to have your say.
Now that the Civics content is out of the way, let’s talk about David Tanabe!
Nah, not really. I was just looking for a random Bruin for the photo, and for some reason, Tanabe came to mind.
The Bruins acquired Tanabe in 2005 in exchange for Dave Scatchard.
Interestingly, Tanabe was a first-round pick by Carolina in the 1999 NHL Draft...which was held in Boston. FULL CIRCLE.
Scatchard was signed by the Bruins after the lockout, and played just 16 games for the B’s before being traded for Tanabe. He had a good 16 games too, recording 10 points.
Anyways, this has been a random history lesson!
We kicked off the player grades yesterday with Nick Ritchie. Expect another player today.
What’s on tap?
Today’s highlight
BRING THE HEAT, BIG MAN.
Today’s discussion topic
I mentioned Boston hosting Tanabe’s 1999 draft, and it reminded me of the 1996 All-Star Game at the FleetCenter, which in turn reminded me that the Bruins should bid for the All-Star Game again.
Given all of the improvements that have been made to the area around the Garden, you’d think the team is better suited than ever to host.
Something to think about for Normal Times, I guess.
