Morning Skate: End of an era

I mean, what can you say? It truly is the end of an era.

I’m not sure this is the way most people saw it ending, but here we are. The end of Zdeno Chara’s career in Boston. The end of quite possibly the worst year ever in 2020.

There will be a great deal of takes and analysis regarding Chara’s departure, but the reality is that we’re just a few days away from the remaining Bruins kicking off the 2021 season.

They’re going to kick it off with quite a few questions on defense, questions that got a little harder to answer with Chara skipping town.

Still, we’ll see how it goes. 2020 wasn’t exactly the kindest year for the Bruins. Maybe a flip of the calendar is just what they (and we all) need.

Enjoy New Year’s Day tomorrow! No Skate, but feel free to use this one. We’ll be back at it on Monday.

Today’s highlight

I mean, you could choose from dozens and dozens of Chara highlights, from fights, to hits, to goals, to the hardest shot competitions.

Still, this one stands out to me. Best of luck in DC, Big Z.
