For those who stayed up to watch, the Bruins pulled off an overtime win against the Oilers last night. On to Calgary!

  • Thankfully the Bruins did NOT expand their dismal 0-7 streak in shootouts- bullet points from the game. Boston Globe
  • Torey Krug passed off to Czechmates David Krejci to David Pastrnak for the game winning goal. 98.5 the Sports Hub
  • Don’t let Pastrnak’s virtuosity blind you to Brad Marchand’s wizardry at playmaking. WEEI
  • This meeting of two of the league’s best at special teams play involved a LOT of chances to showcase those skills. A streamlined and defensively responsible game won it for Boston. Bonus- game highlights video. NHL
  • The win was also #200 for Bruce Cassidy in his NHL career. NESN
  • “Hey, kiddo!” Sportsnet’s Louie DeBrusk had a word with Jake DeBrusk pregame. Chirping ensued. (Video, 1:45) NHL

NHL Standings:

  • In the President’s Trophy race, the Bruins are atop the Atlantic Division NHL, the Eastern Conference NHL, and the NHL overall. The Capitals are sinking, and now the Lightning and then Penguins are nipping at Boston’s heels. (Standings have been pretty sticky, but links are NOT STATIC) NHL
  • David Pastrnak is again tied with Auston Matthews as the top NHL sniper, Brad Marchand is among the assists leaders, and both are among points leaders. On the netminding side, Tuukka Rask is both the goals against average and save percentage leader (yawn), and is among shutout leaders.
