Also important to note: the Bruins are retaining 25 percent of Backes’ remaining contract. So the Ducks are only on the hook for about $3 M in real dollars next season on that contract.

The full deal is RW Ondrej Kase to the Bruins in exchange for David Backes, a 1st-round pick in 2020, and D Axel Andersson.
Kase has been something of an analytics darling for a while, and by that, I mean people smarter than me say he's a good player.
Ondrej Kase (to Boston) is an extremely good driver of play with a great shot and a good penalty differential. How he's languished in obscurity this long is a mystery to me. pic.twitter.com/CdoJ24bQDM

Shawn, our resident Smart Person, said he's going to do a detailed Kase breakdown soon, so stay tuned.
After the deal, Backes had this to say:
Backes said he did have to waive his no-trade clause to go to Anaheim.

"It was a place where they want me to be a player and want me to help in the locker room, bring whatever I can bring to help with the group. That’s certainly something that I take pride in.”
