Game Preview:
So, two potential additions to Boston’s roster tonight gives this game a bit more excitement than might be otherwise expected. And it was going to be an exciting rematch from last week anyways!
There’s plenty of other reading that you should probably do: our early preview of tonight’s game; some fortunate news of a non-acquisition; some quick summaries of the moves made by Boston; and, you should absolutely watch for Shawn’s detailed overview of Ondrej Kase’s potential upside coming later this morning. We’ll also undoubtedly have some more scuttle on the hockey trade that sent Danton Heinen to Anaheim for Nick Ritchie. On the (very shallow) surface, it looks like a traditional hockey archetype (Ritchie) was swapped for an analytics darling that didn’t pass the eye test (Heinen).
Read up on thoughts on the Flames’ trade deadline acquisitions from our colleagues at Matchsticks and Gasoline here. They’ll do their team more justice than I can, though I will add that it looks like they’re trying to load up for a revamped playoff run. Success is, of course, to be seen.
In the meantime, watch for more updates on lineups later today - take them with a grain of salt as the day progresses, given the roster changes. I’ll try to get the official lineups posted as soon as I get to the Garden!
