Women’s Beanpot recap: Northeastern, Boston University advance

We get the title game we all expected after two exciting semifinal matchups.

Rich Gagnon/BU Athletics

Northeastern beats Harvard, 3-1

The Huskies came out firing like the favorites they were expected to be but were unable to put anything away which emboldened the Crimson who put up quite a fight. Harvard would actually outshoot the Huskies in the first period.

It wasn’t meant to be as Harvard made a costly turnover late in the first to Alina Mueller with no one around her in the offensive zone. Mueller would not fail to convert as Northeastern took a lead they would never relinquish.

Skylar Fontaine would add the game winner early in the second. Harvard would not go quietly as they brought the game back to a one goal differential a few minutes later.

The game would end with a Chloe Aurard empty net goal to seal a hard fought win for the Huskies.

Boston University beats Boston College, 4-0

Defending champion Boston University came out strong and scored early. Abby Cook took a blistering shot from the blue line which would prove to be the game winner as Corinne Schroeder had this game on lockdown.

Jesse Compher would tally a pair quickly in the third to put this game out of reach for the Eagles before Deziray De Sousa added an empty netter.
