The NWHL draft starts tonight, and while the Boston Pride already have a pretty stacked roster, it appears they aren’t quite satisfied with standing pat.

Instead, the Pride traded up to pick first overall in tonight’s draft, exchanging picks with the new “franchise to be named later” in Toronto.

First reported by Marisa Ingemi, the Pride will receive the 1st overall pick tonight and fifth-round pick this year.

In return, Toronto’s NWHL team will receive the Pride’s original first-round pick tonight (6th overall), a first-round pick next year, and a second-round pick next year.

Per our friends over at The Ice Garden, possible Pride picks include Sammy Davis (Boston University), Meghara McManus (UNH), and Taylor Wenczkowski (UNH).

Our man Nathan Vaughan will be covering the draft for us tonight and tomorrow on our Twitter account, while The Ice Garden will also be streaming their coverage on Twitch tonight and tomorrow starting at 6:45 PM.

Exciting times for the Pride and the NWHL in general, as the league just added its sixth team last week, based in Toronto.
