Now that we have dates, match-ups, and locations, it’s time for the next logical step: a roster!

The Bruins released their playoff roster for the NHL’s Return to Play this evening. While all of the names are familiar, it’s interesting to see which young guys got the nod.

Bruins Playoff Roster - Forwards

  • Patrice Bergeron
  • Anders Bjork
  • Anton Blidh
  • Paul Carey
  • Charlie Coyle
  • Jake DeBrusk
  • Trent Frederic
  • Ondrej Kase
  • David Krejci
  • Sean Kuraly
  • Karson Kuhlman
  • Par Lindholm
  • Brad Marchand
  • Joakim Nordstrom
  • David Pastrnak
  • Nick Ritchie
  • Zach Senyshyn
  • Jack Studnicka
  • Chris Wagner

Bruins Playoff Roster - Defensemen

  • Zdeno Chara
  • Brandon Carlo
  • Connor Clifton
  • Matt Grzelcyk
  • Torey Krug
  • Jeremy Lauzon
  • Charlie McAvoy
  • John Moore
  • Urho Vaakanainen
  • Jakub Zboril

Bruins Playoff Roster - Goalies

  • Jaroslav Halak
  • Max Lagace
  • Tuukka Rask
  • Dan Vladar

Overall, no real surprises in the group. It’s nice to see guys like Paul Carey, who’s been great in Providence, get the nod.

Also, all 3 draft picks from first round of the much-maligned 2015 NHL Draft are in the mix, though it’s unlikely that Zboril or Senyshyn see ice time in the playoff games (barring injury).

A solid group of forwards, defensemen, and goalies.

Additionally, defenseman Steven Kampfer posted on Twitter that he’s opting out of participating in the Return to Play, as players have the right to do.

As you can see from the Tweet, Kampfer has some pretty legitimate reasons, and shouldn’t be faulted for choosing family over hockey.

While he likely would have been selected for the squad after a few successful playoff appearances last spring, no one can knock him for opting out.
