In this post, I will be creating a Bruins roster based on three factors. One, all UFAs do not resign. Two, all RFAs resign. Three, no trades or free agent signings occur. This process is meant to determine how reliable our non roster players are to the team’s future and what the team’s biggest needs are.
Joakim Nordstrom, Torey Krug, Zdeno Chara, Kevan Miller, Ryan Fitzgerald, Alex Petrovic, Maxime Legacé
Brad Marchand - Patrice Bergeron - David Pastrnak
Jake DeBrusk - David Krejci - Ondrej Kase
Anders Bjork - Charlie Coyle - Karson Khulman
Nick Ritchie- Sean Kuraly - Chris Wagner
Potential Scratches: Par Lindholm, Brett Ritchie, Zach Senyshyn, Jack Studnicka, Anton Blidh and Trent Frederic
Matt Grzelcyk - Charlie McAvoy
Urho Vaakanainen - Brandon Carlo
Jeremy Lauzon - Connor Clifton
Potential Scratches: John Moore, Steven Kampfer and Jakub Zboril
Potential Scratches: Jaroslav Halak and Dan Vladar
How does this team look to you? What are the biggest strengths and weaknesses that you see?
It's fair to say that at least one of Chara or Krug will be resigned from free agency. This will make the situation on LD a little more manageable. With capable replacements like Lindholm, Frederic and Studnicka, the forward group can hold their own for a regular season and then benefit from one or two deadline acquisitions to beef up for the playoffs. With the Bruins' salary cap as tight as it is, especially after offseason signings, it would be best to stick with what we've got internally, as Don Sweeney typically does. Once the Seattle draft comes and goes, the future needs in Boston will be more clear.
Share what you think we should use from the farm to fill the gaps in this team left by UFAs.
