Bruins draw Hurricanes after miserable round robin period

A struggling offense gets to take on a Canes team firing on all cylinders. Joy.

Well, after some of the most uninspired hockey to blight Scotiabank Arena in some time for three straight we are.

Boston is in the 4th seed, and now faces the Carolina Hurricanes in the first round of the Stanley Cup Playoffs.

The Hurricanes by all accounts showed up knowing this was going to be tough, and promptly beat the brakes off of NYR to the tune of at least a goal or two, and really the closest game they had was just rust.

In the small sample size of the play-ins, Carolina looks pretty good, even if they were favored.

And now, Bruce has but a few days to tool his roster into shape, and get them ready to face a team that has not been an easy task at all for anybody.

Boston desperately needs it after the week they’ve been having.

The Bruins and Hurricanes played just once this past season, with the Bruins winning 2-0 back on December 3. A lot has happened (both in the hockey world and in the world in general) since then.

Of course, you remember last spring’s playoffs, when the Bruins swept the Hurricanes to reach the Stanley Cup Final. Needless to say these current Bruins haven’t looked like those well-oiled machine Bruins, but...clean slate now!

So let’s forget all about the round robin, and get ready to deal with the actual playoffs.
