Welcome to Friday. The end of the week is upon is. Hopefully this week was everything you hoped it would be. Dare to dream.
A series of Bruins-related rumors cropped up on Twitter yesterday, seemingly at random. It’s that time of the league year, after all.
Sure, the big names like Taylor Hall and Patrik Laine have been bandied about, and the Bruins sure could use some 5v5 offense.
But the latest rumor involves Arizona Coyotes defenseman Oliver Ekman-Larsson. While a solid player, Ekman-Larsson is a good example of stability being a bad thing.
He’s signed for seven more years, which is an almost unfathomably long time in hockey years. While that security is great for Ekman-Larsson and his family, his contract would hamstring any team that acquired him.
Plus, if you’re going to give $8+ million to a defenseman for the next bunch of years, you could probably just keep the pending UFA who’s already very familiar with your team.
Anyways, rumors are fun.
