Morning Skate: Pummeled

A pretty sound win for Tampa.

We saw a little bit of separation in the Stanley Cup Final last night, with the Lightning soundly beating the Dallas Stars.

It was one of those games we got used to seeing the Bruins play during the regular season, a game where one team just utterly dominated for overwhelming stretches.

Allowing 5 goals before the second period was over, many will wonder if Anton Khudobin has turned back into a pumpkin at last.

However, Khudobin has the personality to let even the biggest of blowouts roll off his back. He doesn’t seem like the kind of guy who gets bothered by much.

Plus, it’s not like the Tampa onslaught was his fault.

Still, Dallas is in a bit of trouble now, especially when you consider the schedule: the back-to-back set is looming.

If Dallas drops Friday night’s game, they’re faced with a do-or-die game less than 24 hours later.

Anyways, it’s Thursday. What’s on tap?

Today’s highlight

The vast majority of players on the Lightning are obnoxious. Steven Stamkos is not one of them. Nice to see him back on the ice after such a long layoff.

Today’s discussion topic

This isn’t really a question, but more something that was hammered home watching the game last night: it’s going to be bizarre for the players to skate the Cup around in an empty arena.
