It is the first gameday of the season for the Pride. Today they will open up against the Minnesota Whitecaps, the team they were supposed to end their season against last year in the Isobel Cup Final.
Just the facts
When: Tonight, 4 PM
Where: Herb Brooks Arena, Lake Placid, NY
How to follow: Twitch: NWHL channel
Outlook
The Whitecaps are not supposed to be as dominant as they were last year, due to a combination of other teams getting better and the Whitecaps having some top talent leave or opt out of this year’s bubble.
Story Lines
First game of the season!
With so little prep time in Lake Placid combined with the craziness of the last year there is sure to be some rust to be sandblasted off and communication with new line mates to be worked out. Who will solve that faster?
Unfinished business.
Like we talked about this game was supposed to be played in March with a trophy on the line, now it is just a regular season game. However, both teams will be wanting to get off on the right foot.
New faces.
The Pride added a lot fresh faces via the draft. How will they slot in? Will they live up to they hype? Who get’s their first point first?
Other Games
The Pride are not the only game going today. The Metropolitan Riveters will be the inaugural opponent of the Toronto 6 as they face off at 1PM. Later, the Buffalo Beauts will take on the Connecticut Whale at 7PM.
Prediction
The Pride should win the game. They are likely to be the favorites in every game they play this season. The first period is going to be very telling. If the Pride are too rusty it will be a long day, but it only takes one skater to score.
