Welcome to Thursday — we creep one day closer to the beginning of the Bruins season and having actual stuff to post about.
Until then, you continue to get my random thoughts. Lucky you!
Yesterday’s big news in Bruins Land was the rumblings of a contract extension for Charlie McAvoy, alluded to during Cam Neely’s press conference.
Cam Neely on a Charlie McAvoy extension: "Hopes are we see something here in short order."

Until it gets done, McAvoy’s contract situation will be an ongoing subplot to the Bruins’ season.
All indications are that McAvoy would like to stay here and that the Bruins are willing to pay him, but it’s one of those things that the longer it goes on, the more you wonder.
(Not now, of course; I mean more if it’s not done in, say, March.)
McAvoy’s camp has decent leverage, considering the Bruins would be in utter shambles defensively without McAvoy on the roster.
Of course, he’ll still be a RFA when the contract ends, so the player doesn’t quite hold all of the cards, but it’d be a bold (read: not smart) gamble for the Bruins to try to kick the can when they’d likely just end up paying more.
Pay that man his money, Don.
Today’s discussion topic
Predict McAvoy’s contract! I say 7 years, $61 million...somewhere around $8.725 million AAV.
