Weekly women’s hockey wrap-up: October 26

A look at the weekend's action in local women's hockey.

The teams won most of their games but that lone loss is going to haunt them.

Boston Pride (0-0-0) Standings: 1st (0 Points behind)

The Pride will be our last team to return to action when they open next month

Boston College (6-0-0, 4-0-0-0 HEA) SBN Poll: 7 (-) HEA: T-1st (0 Points behind)

  • Last week: W 5-2 v Maine (10/23)
  • Coming Week: v Northeastern (10/29), @ Northeastern (10/30)

Another improvement for the Eagles, they were able to win a game by more than a goal. Up next is a pair against Northeastern which should set the winner up to be the favorite to win HEA.

Boston University (4-1-2, 3-0-2-0 HEA) SBN Poll: NR HEA: 3rd (1 Point behind)

  • Last week: L 2-4 @ RPI (10/22), W 4-1 @ Union (10/23)
  • Coming Week: v Vermont (10/29), @ Providence (10/31)

The Terriers are quite an enigma. They punched Northeastern in the mouth but then lost to UNH and Merrimack in shootouts. This weekend only Providence was worse because BU had a slightly better ugly win at Union, though both lost to RPI which was a real head scratcher. Now a trip to Rhode Island could simplify the home ice debate HEA.

Harvard University (2-0-0, 1-0-0 ECAC, 1-0-0 Ivy) SBN Poll: 12 ECAC: 2nd (3 Points behind) Ivy: 1st (0 Points behind)

  • Last week: W 4-1 @ Dartmouth (10/23), W 6-2 v St. Anselm (10/23)
  • Coming Week: v Cornell (10/29), v Colgate (10/30)

Can’t do anything but win the games you are scheduled and that is what the Crimson have done. They now sit atop the Ivy and just on the outside inn the ECAC. This weekend will be a huge test against two of the best teams in their conference.

Northeastern University (5-2-0, 4-2-0-0 HEA) SBN Poll: 6 (-2) HEA: T-1st (0 Points behind)

  • Last week: W 3-1 v Holy Cross (10/24)
  • Coming Week: @ Boston College (10/29), v Boston College (10/30)

The Huskies are not clicking right now. While they won on Sunday it was not a good game for them against a bad Holy Cross team. This weekend is the end of the line for them to get their act together as they take on an undefeated Boston College team. If they want to be considered a national contender this weekend is the time to show it.
