Recap: Pride roll on to third place, dominate Buffalo again 7-1

Due to outside circumstances last night was no longer an elimination game. But no players knew that.

Michelle Jay

It’s happy days for hockey in Boston with a big win to send the Pride on to the playoffs as the third seed.

Connecticut Culled

While there were rumblings about something going on early in the evening the full story broke just before puck drop that the Connecticut Whale had decided to forfeit their game against Minnesota and withdraw from the tournament. This made the Pride/Beauts game a 3rd/4th game instead of an elimination game. Pride head coach Paul Mara said he was informed at 7:55PM, 35 minutes before puck drop, but declined to inform his team who did not know this was the case until they left the ice victorious.

Offensive Onslaught

After a slow offensive start the Pride won this three game series with a 14-3 aggregate against a great goalie in Carly Jackson. The scoring is coming from multiple lines and a number of goals are being scored by defenders. This can only be a positive going forward.

The Big Mo

Playoff hockey is always settled by who is the hottest team, and typically the hottest goalie. Right now the Pride are on fire. A total of 13 goals in two games is a great total and it come sat the perfect time. Minnesota is coming off a tough loss to Toronto while Boston has a pair of energizing wins. Add in the revenge factor and Boston is in prime position.
