Morning Skate: Unassisted

Can’t win ‘em all!

NHL: Boston Bruins at New York Islanders Brad Penner-USA TODAY Sports

So, uh...win some, lose some, right?

That game got ugly last night, and it got ugly in a hurry. It went from a 3-2 Islanders lead to a 7-2 Islanders lead it what seemed like the blink of an eye.

Remarkably, four of the five goals the Islanders scored in the third period were unassisted. I don’t know what the record is for unassisted goals in a period, but four has to be close.

(The Isles’ first goal of the night was unassisted too.)

Whatever the reason, the Isles seem to have the Bruins’ number this season, similar to how the Bruins seem to have the Flyers’ number.

It’s the circle of life.

Anyways, we’ve come to the end of another week.

The B’s will play the Rangers tomorrow, then will play them again on Sunday afternoon.

Normally, a Saturday off in New York City would be pretty cool, but with COVID, it’ll likely be a whole bunch of the inside of a hotel.

Good times.

Today’s highlight

Check out some of the names in this game! Joonas Kemppanainen, Loui Eriksson, Jonas Gustavsson...good times.

It even had Jaroslav Halak on the other team.

What do you think it is about the Islanders? Speed? Bad luck?
