PREVIEW: Bruins at Rangers: Redux

We didn’t want to admit it either, but we NEED a recovery game against this Rangers squad!

Just the Facts:

The Time: 12pm EST

The Place: MSG Arena, Manhattan, New York City, New York State, 10108 (zip code unverified, check with Stick Stickly)

Place to Watch: NBC, SN1

Place to Listen: 98.5 The Sports Hub

Know Your Enemy:

  • Chris Kreider leads the Rangers with with 9 goals, and their leading point-getter is Artemi Panarin, with 18 points (though, he has been forced to take a leave of absence).
  • Kaapo Kakko and Alexis Lafreniere are somewhat quiet right now. Kakko only has 3 points in 14 games, and none in his last five, and Lafreniere only has 2 in 17, but he did score on Washington on the 20th. Kakko on the other hand, has become quite a puck mover, as he is 3rd on the team in advanced metrics among NYR forwards. May wanna keep an eye on him.
  • Igor Shesterkin is looking like the New York starter for the time being, boasting a .919 SV% in 11 starts. Though, we’ll see if Georgiev gives Shesterkin a rest today.

Game Preview:

Okay, so Thursday night was...bad. Just...bad. And now they have to bury all of that in order to play the Rangers...

Still relevant, wasn’t it? Shamefully, even. And yet, the Bruins weren’t able to bury the Islanders loss with another absolute stinker against an even less-scary-on-paper team.

WHY?!?!

There is not much going on now in the Bruins’ game to contribute confidence. Boston needs to right themselves without the benefit of practice, and still without a couple defensemen and our #1 offensive center, it’s not likely to be a phoenix rising... more like a badger fighting its way out of a paper bag.

Hey, at least there’s hockey tonight!!
