Watch: Leo Komarov cheapshots David Pastrnak for some reason

What a weird play.

NHL: New York Islanders at Boston Bruins Bob DeChiara-USA TODAY Sports

What’s a late-season game without a little fireworks?

With the first period winding down in tonight’s Bruins-Islanders game, Leo Komarov decided he had beef with David Pastrnak, for some reason.

Komarov was already being called for a slashing penalty on the play, then got two more tacked on for unsportsmanlike conduct.

It looked like Komarov caught Pastrnak somewhere in the chest or ribs with the butt end of his stick, which isn’t going to feel great.

If you’re an Islanders fan and struggle to use your eyes, it was just a light brush with the fingers and Pastrnak dove. Good times.

In any case, it’s hard to understand what was going through Komarov’s brain here.

He had just been called for a penalty so maybe he was frustrated and decided to...take another penalty?

Komarov has a bit of a history with the Bruins, particularly with Brad Marchand, who once licked him.

Maybe he’s been harboring that resentment for a long time.

The Bruins would score on the 5-on-3, and it remains to be seen if there are any further shenanigans in the game.

Komarov isn’t a guy likely to answer for his transgressions, so it may be better for the Bruins to take a number and move on.
