Morning Skate: On an island

Well, not quite yet.

Well folks, we still don’t quite now yet who the Bruins will be facing in Round 2, but we’re a step closer to a date with the New York Islanders.

The Islanders beat the Penguins last night in Pittsburgh, a 3-2 win in double overtime. That series shifts back to Long Island on Wednesday night.

As I’m putting this together, the Oilers just took a penalty in overtime of their game against Winnipeg. Gonna guess that this doesn’t end well for poor Connor McDavid, but who knows?

Well, you likely do as you read this, but Current Me doesn’t know.

Anyways, not much going on in Bruins Land today. The team will have another off day, with practice resuming tomorrow.

Gotta get that rest while you can.

What’s on tap for today?

Today’s highlight

Alex Ovechkin said on Monday that he won’t play for Russia in the current World Championships due to injury, likely the same lower-body injury that bothered him prior to the playoffs.

Needless to say, the play above likely didn’t help.

Today’s discussion topic

On the whole, these have been some entertaining playoffs so far. Discuss.
