Morning Skate: Electric

Chaos looms on Saturday.

Happy Friday!

Memorial Day Weekend is nearly upon us, meaning it’s the unofficial start of summer.

Today’s a pretty remarkable day for us here in Massachusetts: it’s the last (for now, he says nervously) day of COVID-19 restrictions, with the state set to lift everything from mask mandates to capacity limits effective tomorrow.

This is relevant for a number of reasons, the most important being that it shows how effective a competent vaccine rollout can be (eventually).

However, for the purposes of this site, it’s relevant because tomorrow could/should be one of the most electric home atmospheres in recent Bruins memory.

TD Garden will be packed to close to full capacity tomorrow night, when the Bruins kick off their second-round series against the New York Islanders.

Along with that, the fans who attend will have been able to avail themselves of all of the food/drink amenities that the area around TD Garden has to offer for the first time in well over a year.

Toss that all in the with the fact that a generally celebratory atmosphere will likely be palpable in Massachusetts on Saturday and you’ve got a recipe for bedlam, in a good way.

Home ice has never felt so home-y.
