Morning Skate: Sticks and stones

They’re big mad in Montreal.

Welcome to Friday, folks.

If you’re in New England, you’re likely going to get soaked with rain from Tropical Storm Elsa today. If you’re in the mid-Atlantic, you probably already got it.

If you’re elsewhere, well...I don’t know, I can’t do weather reports for everyone.

However, I do know the weather in Montreal: sadness.

Sure, it’s understandable to be sad about your team bowing out in the Stanley Cup Final. We’ve all been through it.

But after Wednesday night’s Tampa series win, some Montreal fans were left extra sad (or mad, to be a bit more accurate) because of shots Lightning forward Nikita Kucherov took at them after the game.

Why yes, that is Kucherov taking potshots at Montreal fans just a few minutes after ending their season in the Final.

Talk about kicking someone while they’re down.

Predictably, the discourse surrounding the comments has been exhausting.

Montreal fans say Kucherov is classless and at least the Habs had fans. Lightning fans say the Habs fans are babies and that they have plenty of fans, they’re just not super loud until the very end.

Of course, there’s a chance (slight) that Kucherov was already several Bud Lights deep at this point, and a chance that he felt like unloading on someone after being the subject of “cap cheater” conversations all summer.

World keeps spinnin’.

Today’s discussion topic

Let’s add to the exhausting discourse! What’s your take on Kucherov’s comments?
