Morning Skate: Ruling the roost

A true homecoming.

Happy Tuesday, folks.

A quiet start to this week for the Bruins, with little in the way of Earth-shattering news coming out of rookie camp (as it should be).

The big Bruins-adjacent news from yesterday was the announcement of David Krejci’s Czech destination: the former Bruin (still seems weird) will be playing for HC Olomouc in the Czech Extraliga.

Krejci played for Olomouc’s U18 team waaaaaaaay back in 2000-2001, so he’s really returning to his roots.

Olomouc, located in the eastern portion of Czechia, is about 20 minutes from Krejci’s hometown of Sternberk.

As some Czech hockey players/observers have noted, Krejci deserves some credit: he said he was going home, and he really went home, playing for a (no offense) lesser team as opposed to the bigger-name Sparta Praha, Pardubice, etc.

Olomouc’s logo features a menacing-looking rooster clutching a hockey stick, kind of giving “Angry Chicken from Family Guy” vibes.

That team name/mascot/logo/whatever led to some pretty awesome Google Translate errors.

Ah, the joys of the offseason.

Today’s discussion topic

If you were to return to your true first team, where would you be playing? I think I’d be playing CYO basketball for St. Ann’s...I’d likely dominate as an adult. Hall of Fame.
