A new gig.

Well folks, it’s the last week of August. Time flies, summer is too quick, all of that stuff.

One of the nice bits of Bruins-related news last week came in the form of a new gig for a former Bruin, as Marc Savard was named head coach of the OHL’s Windsor Spitfires.

For a guy who’s only 44, Savard has done a lot and bounced around quite a bit in his post-playing days, including a brief stint with the St. Louis Blues.

The Boston Globe had a nice article detailing Savard’s next challenge, including Savard doing a brief scouting report on one of his opponents for next season: his son, Tyler, who will be playing for Sault Ste. Marie.

One of the more interesting anecdotes from the article: I had no idea Savard was the source of the “nice guy, tries hard, loves the game” quote made famous by Phil Kessel’s Twitter bio.

You learn something new every day, I guess.
