Happy Friday, folks — your weekend is nearly here.

Unless you work a nontraditional schedule, in which case I’m not sure when your weekend is, but I hope it’s soon.

Alright, now that we got that out of the way, let’s move on to the exciting stuff: talking about hockey broadcasts!

You may have seen the post yesterday about the Bruins’ national TV schedule, which includes 13 games on various networks.

Five of those games will be on TNT, part of the new “NHL on TNT” coverage...it’s going to take some getting used to to NOT type “NBA on TNT.”

Turner released their broadcast team the other day, and here’s who you’ll see/hear on TNT’s NHL coverage:

  • Team 1: Kenny Albert, Eddie Olczyk
  • Team 2: Brendan Burke, Darren Pang
  • Inside the glass: Keith Jones
  • Studio show: Liam McHugh, Wayne Gretzky, Anson Carter, Rick Tocchet, Paul Bissonnette
  • Contributors: Jennifer Botterill, Jackie Redmond, Tarik El-Bashir

I guess these are...fine? I’m not sure how I feel about the studio show.

McHugh and Carter are good. Gretzky isn’t exactly Mr. Personality, but by including Bissonnette, my guess is that they’re trying to make the studio show more interesting.

I don’t see a Charles Barkley in the bunch, but I guess it’s worth trying something different. I love the NBA on TNT panel, but know it’s not for everyone.

Anyways, that’s been Broadcast Talk.
