Morning Skate: Calm

Relatively speaking.

Happy Friday, folks.

Believe it or not, we’re just a couple of days away from the first preseason game of the off-season.

I hope you’ve got your hot takes ready, because we’re ready to hear them!

Angelina had you covered at training camp yesterday, and it seems like thus far, things are going just fine for the Bruins.

No real chaos, no real wild takes, just vibes.

Compared to some of the other teams in their own division, the Bruins are a well-oiled machine:

  • The Leafs are the Leafs.
  • Montreal has a few pretty important guys fail their medical exams.
  • The Sabres took the captaincy away from Jack Eichel.

Good times all around.

Elsewhere, the Oilers are weighing whether or not to send unvaccinated Josh Archibald to the AHL or face him likely missing around 40 games due to COVID protocols, the investigation into Evander Kane betting on games concluded with no evidence of wrongdoing, an Islanders prospect posted about “human rights” then went private, Evgeni Malkin is out for two months, Nicklas Backstrom is hurt...

Whew.

Hey, maybe arguing about a second-line center isn’t so bad after all...
