Krista Patronick announced yesterday on her personal blog that she will be stepping down from her position with The Hockey Academy in order to focus more on her duties as Blades General Manager.

"Sometimes you have to jump off a cliff and build your wings on the way down. So that’s what I’m doing. Jumping," Patronick wrote. "It’s going to make me a better GM, and a happier and more fulfilled person. I’m ready to start the next chapter of my life."

Patronick explained that she was inspired by Les Canadiennes de Montreal GM Meg Hewings, who works as a full time GM and earns supplemental income from part-time work.

"She built her life so that she could get income by doing things she loved and enjoyed, and could also dedicate enough of her time to her other love, her team, and be a full time GM."

Patronick has been with The Hockey Academy for four and a half years, where she served as the Adult Hockey League Director and Marketing Director for the company's two junior teams, the New England Stars and the Maine Wild. Her last day there will be Feb. 25.
