Tara Watchorn Returns to the Boston Blades

The Captain is Back

The Boston Blades mad a huge signing the other day by retaining Tara Watchorn in a two-year deal, renewing her contract for her third and fourth seasons with the team. She had spent her first two seasons with the Calgary Inferno, formerly the Alberta Honeybadgers.

Watchorn is the team captain and second on the team in points last season, with six, despite missing time with concussion symptoms. This was a marked drop-off from her 20-point, +25 season when the Blades won the Clarkson Cup in 2015. Though this is likely due to a much lighter supporting cast.

This signing was a must by the Blades heading into their second season post NWHL exodus. The Blades are looking to continue to rebuild around her. GM Krista Patronick said, "She provided leadership and experience for a team that saw large roster turnover last season. Her dedication to this team is unmatched and I look forward to seeing where next season will take us under her continued leadership."
