We enter the single digits of the Top 25 Under 25 with the first-round pick in the 2014 draft. Ever since he was drafted, Pastrnak has been an offseason rockstar. Here are some highlights:

It's been exciting to have an exciting player like that. Everything he does is gold, he's like a young Jaromir Jagr without the being-one-of-the-best-hockey-players-of-all-time part. It's gotten to the point that the conductor of the Pastrnak Hype Train had to write a post on realistic expectations for Pastrnak. Maybe it's the offseason driving us nuts, but then again that's just how it goes.

This year

This is a big question. When he was drafted, we heard about how he would probably finish his contract with his Swedish team (through 2014-15) and then return to Boston. However, cap mismanagement by Peter Chiarelli may have forced a change - when you're paying Chris Kelly 3 million a year, you've gotta fill in with some cheap players. Pastrnak, on an entry-level-contract, would be one of those guys. And you can see the Bruins hype machine kicking into full gear to prepare us for that possibility. Whitesides said he's strong enough, Chiarelli keeps saying he could challenge for a spot, etc. He did win MVP of the rookie tournament in Nashville, but then again John Sim was a preseason all-star for like 4 years and didn't amount to much when it started to count in the slightest. It wouldn't be terribly surprising for them to play him for 8 games and send him packing to Sweden, so as to preserve an ELC year.
