Mark Stuart on the shelf 4-6 weeks with broken sternum


Defenseman Mark Stuart will miss the next 4-6 weeks with a broken sternum. Stuart suffered the injury late in the game against the Philadelphia Flyers on Monday. Fellow defenseman Dennis Wideman is also nursing an undisclosed injury. Neither player traveled with the team to Chicago for Friday night's game. ....Maybe bringing back Aaron Ward isn't such a bad idea.

Bruins call up McQuaid and Wozniewski; Place Lucic on IR


The Bruins have recalled defensemen Adam McQuaid and Andy Wozniewski from the Providence Bruins after Dennis Wideman left last night's game with an injury. The Bruins also placed Milan Lucic on the IR to make room for the call-ups.

Bruins sign Max Sauve to a 3-year entry level contract


The Bruins announced today that they have signed Max Sauve to a 3-year entry level deal. The 19 year old center was selected by the B's in the 2nd round of the 2008 NHL Entry Draft. He has been playing with Val-d'Or Foreurs of the QMJHL this season and has recorded 33 points (12-21-33) in 23 games.

Bruins assign Johnny Boychuk to Providence


It looks like the Bruins finally realized that it does no good to have Johnny Boychuk rot in the press box as a healthy stratch night after night. The team announced today that they have assign the defenseman to the Providence Bruins (AHL).

Bruins sign coaching staff to multi-year extension


GM Peter Chiarelli announced that the Bruins have signed 5 members of their coaching staff to a multi-year extension. Assistant coaches Doug Houda, Craig Ramsay, and Geoff Ward, along with goaltending coach Bob Essensa and video coach Brant Berglund were all signed to mult-year deals. The terms of the deal were not disclosed.

Bruins send Lefebvre back to Providence


The Bruins have assigned Guillaume Lefebvre to the Providence Bruins. Lefebvre is getting to know that stretch of I-95 between Boston and Providence pretty well.

The Bruins announced today that Marc Savard was placed on the long-term IR with a broken left foot and will be out at least 4-6 weeks. Savard injured the foot in the preseason and has been playing through the injury. He recently re-aggravated it and after tests decided to take some time for it hear. Trent Whitfield was called up from Providence today and will likely replace Savard in the lineup tonight.
