The Bruins announced a trade on Friday afternoon, as they sent Providence Bruins defenseman Cody Goloubef to the Ottawa Senators in exchange for forward Paul Carey.
The move is, in all likelihood, a depth move, as the team announced that Carey will report to Providence and Ottawa announced that Goloubef will report to AHL Belleville.
Carey has bounced around since being drafted back in 2007, splitting AHL and NHL time with the Senators, Rangers, Capitals and Avalanche.
He's 30 years old, and has put up 16 points in 97 NHL games. He's been more prolific at the AHL level, potting 209 points in 316 games.
He had an outstanding career at Boston College, but hasn't had the quite the same success in the pros.
Still, a good offensive boost for the Providence Bruins and a nice homecoming for the Thayer Academy kid.
