The big deadline prize is coming to Boston?

Well folks, it appears that the Bruins didn’t like their big Sunday night headline being “Bruins lose 8-1 to Washington.”

After first acquiring Mike Reilly from the Ottawa Senators, reports indicate that the Bruins are acquiring Taylor Hall from the Buffalo Sabres.

It first started with Darren Dreger, who noted that the Bruins were reportedly acquiring forward Curtis Lazar from Buffalo, but potentially as part of a bigger deal.

Told Curtis Lazar is going to Boston from the Sabres. Reason to believe this is part of a bigger deal. Awaiting word on Hall.

That was followed up by a lot of wild speculation on Twitter, until we got this a few minutes ago:

We’ll throw in the obvious “it’s not official until it’s official” caveats, but where there’s this much smoke, there’s almost certainly fire.

If this trade comes to fruition, it’s the surest sign yet that the Bruins are, in fact, Going For It, throwing caution to the wind and pushing all their chips to the middle of the table.

Stay tuned, we’ll update this post as news comes in.

Well, there’s some depth on defense.

Shortly after the pummeling at the hands of the Washington Capitals ended, the Bruins announced that they’ve made their first move of Trade Deadline Season, acquiring defenseman Mike Reilly from the Ottawa Senators.

In exchange, the Bruins are sending Ottawa a third-round pick in the 2022 NHL Draft.

Reilly is a 27-year-old, left-shot defenseman. He’s played 40 games for the Senators this season, recording 19 assists in the process.
