The Bruins struggle-bussed their way to a 4-1 loss to the Canadiens tonight. Here are some details.

Extra Skater Stats

Well, we knew it'd have to happen sometime. You can't just keep on putting up quota forever and ever...it just stinks that it was against the Canadiens. Dougie Hamilton had the lone goal of the night, assisted by the Swedes. The Bruins took a gajillion penalties. Brad Marchand tossed Brendan Gallagher into a post for trying to bother Tuukka Rask and if a PPG for the Habs hadn't ensued, it would have been great.

Rask got pulled for "Hi I'm" Chad Johnson. ALEXEI EMELIN GOT HIS FIRST GOAL OF THE YEAR. Nope nope I am done.

The Good:

- Nice goal, Dougie

- Matt Bartkowski actually had a few really strong shifts.

- The Bergeron line actually got some sustained zone time and better quality shots off than everyone else! Everyone else sucked.

The Bad:

- EVERYTHING ELSE.

- no really everything else.

- Why did David Krejci really randomly fall down about eight times tonight?

- Why did Julien pull Tuukka Rask?

- Why did Chad Johnson???

- Why is Brendan Gallagher such a little shit?

- Why did the whole team focus more on hitting than on playing smart with the puck? They can do it against EVERYONE ELSE but not the Canadiens?

- Most of the shots on goal were not high-quality...meanwhile, the Canadiens were getting in Rask and Johnson's space all night. Not good.

The Interesting:

- NOTHING.

Notable Moments:

oh look the ONE GOAL the Bruins scored all night how delightful

Game Notes:

Montreal are 4-6-0 in their last 10 - but they're coming off a shutout win over Dobby and the Carolina Hurricanes. Likely they're looking to carry that momentum into the TD Garden tonight.

Tuukka Rask is 2-9-2 in his career against the Canadiens.

Looks like Chris Kelly will be back on the fourth line at least to start the night, with Daniel Paille slotting in alongside the Swedes. What is Swedish for "pie"?

It's kind of nuts how the Canadiens have drafted at least one player from every Memorial-Cup-winning QMJHL team from the last three years. Beaulieu played for St. John, who won in Mississauga in 2011, and Michael Bournival was the poster boy for home-team Shawinigan in 2012 (the poster was pretty intense, as you can see in the background here.) Must be nice to have such a glut of excellent teams that are so close by - perfect for scouting purposes. Last year they scooped up Halifax's star goaltender Zach Fucale, much to my fucking chagrin. Rivalries aside, it's nice to see some of these guys transition to the NHL.

Briere centering Parros and Moen is going to be the funniest thing in the world to watch.

Can the Bruins hit quota for a fourth game in a row? Probably not, but against the Canadiens, you never know - anything can happen.

NEVER FORGET:

RIP Sturmface's career :(
